_Rules:

1. Eligibility: Singers over 18 years of age of any nationality.
2. All works must be performed from memory.
3. Contestants should prepare five operatic/oratorio arias or songs in different styles and languages (English is not required).  All repertoires should be accompanied by piano only.
4. Contestants choose their first piece and the judges may ask to hear the second one or part of the second piece.  Performance of each contestant may not exceed fifteen (15) minutes. The judges may stop the contestants’ performance if the piece is too long.
5. An accompanist will be provided free of charge.  Contestants can bring their own accompanists on their own costs.
6. Space for competitors is limited.  Early application is encouraged.
7. If contestant is late for scheduled time, they will forfeit their place in the competition.
8. If unusual circumstances prevail, the time and location of the competition is subject to change.
   
9. During the competition, contestants should not make any contact with the competition judges.  Violation of this rule may result in disqualification.
10. The decisions made by the judges of the competition are final and are not subject to query, review or appeal.
11. The competition will be open to the public.
12. Grand-prize winners will be featured at the MIMF's gala concert at the Weill Recital Hall in the 2012~2013 season.  Encouragement awards: full scholarship to MIMF vocal academy in the 2012~2013 season.  Outstanding performers will be invited to MIMF’s future concerts and events.
